‘Blazing Saddles,’ ‘Westworld,’ and the Other Weirdest Westerns Ever Put on Film

The new John C. Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix film The Sisters Brothers is as weird as it sounds — a western about two brothers/assassins both with the last name Sisters on the hunt for a gold prospector when one of them (Reilly) starts to doubt his career choice. In this way, it’s one part Grosse Point Blank, and one part Unforgiven. It’s hardly, though, the first weird western. And so, for this episode of the Weekend Binge, I’m serving up all the weird westerns I could think of — from Jim Jarmusch’s Dead Man to Mel Brooks’ Blazing Saddles to South Korea’s The Good the Bad the Weird.
