When It Comes to Corey Feldman, Empathy Overrules Irony

Laugh at Corey Feldman’s Today Show appearance if you must. We, however, think it’s bad juju. Yes, his live performance of “Go 4 It” was a trainwreck. But it’s hard to be a snarky asshole about it when you know how rough his life has been—from a childhood derailed by sexual abuse and greedy parents to an adulthood marked by a public divorce and the death of his onetime best friend Corey Haim. So, as MEL contributor Nathan Rabin argues, funny isn’t exactly the first thing that comes to mind when watching Feldman’s Today Show debacle.
